Huff shows the reader that seemingly harmless statistics can be used to hide problems, create a false image, or draw cause and effect relationships where there isn’t any direct effect.

This is a great book to read if you’d like to gain a better understanding of how the statistics we’re inundated with everyday are formulated. It seems like everything from dishwasher soap to the latest Mercedes is marketed with some kind of data backing it up. Understanding how these numbers are created, and why they don’t mean anything at all, can go a long way towards improving your understanding of the world.
